Marble is a rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks, most commonly limestone or dolomite rock. Metamorphism causes variable recrystallization of the original carbonate mineral grains. The resulting marble rock is typically composed of an interlocking mosaic of carbonate crystals. Pure white marble is the result of metamorphism of a very pure (silicate-poor) limestone or dolomite protolith. The characteristic swirls and veins of many colored marble varieties are usually due to various mineral impurities such as clay, silt, sand, iron oxides, or chert which were originally present as grains or layers in the limestone. Green coloration is often due to serpentine resulting from originally high magnesium limestone or dolostone with silica impurities. These various impurities have been mobilized and recrystallized by the intense pressure and heat of the metamorphism..

Granite is an igneous rock and is formed from magma.
Alkali feldspar (rich in potassium) and quartz, are two of the defining constituents of granite.

Granite is extracted from a quarry using multiple linked explosives & cut into 45,000-pound blocks.  These blocks are then transferred to a factory for cutting into slabs by diamond tipped blades.
In most cases, the process may take up to 3 days of continuous cutting to create multiple slabs from one extracted rock.

Limestone is a sedimentary stone created from crystalized forms of calcium carbonate deposits. Many limestones are composed from skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral or foraminifera. Some limestones do not consist of grains at all, and are formed completely by the chemical precipitation of calcite or aragonite (i.e. Travertine). Many landmarks across the world, including the Great Pyramid and its associated complex in Giza, Egypt, are made of limestone. Limestone is readily available and relatively easy to cut into blocks or more elaborate carving. It is also long-lasting and stands up well to exposure. However, it is a very heavy material, making it impractical for tall buildings, and relatively expensive as a building material.
